The Authority Triangle
In this model, authority is not a character trait but a system of three levels that build on each other causally. What you do shapes who you are. Who you are determines how you come across. How you come across decides how much influence you have over your life and your environment.
Habits are the concrete behaviors you practice every day — five mastery zones: Space, Structure, Style, Relationships, Finances. Traits are the emergent result of those habits — five qualities others perceive in you. Effect consists of five tripwires that fire unconsciously in the person across from you.
- ·When you want change, don't ask "Who do I want to be?" but "Which habits would someone practice who already is the way I want to be?" That is the only lever that actually holds.
- ·Be suspicious of any self-improvement tool that starts with the traits instead of the habits. It sells you the symptom as the solution.
